Description
Summary:Slope stability has always been a major concern in geotechnical engineering. Studies have shown that it is possible to improve the slope analyses by taking negative pore-water pressure into consideration. Numerous analyses on slope stability have been conducted for slope with unimodal soil. However, there are very limited numbers of slope analyses conducted for soil with dual porosity. In addition, the most common types of slope failure are rain-induced slope failure. Countries in the tropical region tend to experience higher rainfall and the types of soil that exists in Singapore and other tropical countries are mainly either residual soil or colluvial soil .These types of soil tend to have bimodal characteristic. Therefore, in this project, seepage and slope stability analyses of slope with bimodal characteristic will be done. In addition, unimodal and bimodal equations will also be use for fitting in the publish data and project data. There will be comparison between unimodal and bimodal analyses results to further understand the effect of various hydraulic properties on slope stability in dual‐porosity soil.
