description | This research seeks to analyze Singapore’s potential as a project cargo hub for the Southeast Asia region. The research has been divided into three parts, Part I, II and III. Part I will look into the project cargo opportunities in the Southeast Asia region till the year 2030. Part II of this research focuses on the characteristics of existing project cargo hubs and trends in heavy lift shipping. This would be followed by Part III which seeks to investigate the feasibility and suitability of Singapore as a project cargo hub for Southeast Asia.
In Part I of this research, current trends and developments in the world’s project cargo market will first be identified. Subsequently, future development and growth trends in Southeast Asia will be used to forecast and give a credible consensus of project cargo opportunities in the region till the year 2030. It was determined in the paper that there are huge project cargo opportunities for the Southeast Asia region in the oil & gas, construction and wind energy sector. However, poor transportation infrastructure, political instability and ongoing conflicts in the region may ultimately hamper growth. |
