description | Fossil fuel has been used as the main source of energy to power most of the human activities for the past century. It has depleted the resource and brings substantial harm to the environment thus far. This has brought many experts in the world to look into the studies of renewable resources like wind and solar energy which are readily available as long as the sun continues to rise.
The purpose of this project is to study how the different weather forecast measurement data affect the solar power generation of the solar panel on S2-B1 roof top. Weather forecast data were generated from a reliable website, while solar power data were generated from the hybrid DC/AC Grid. Subsequently develop and design a database that storage the weather forecast measurement, solar power generation and prediction. This database is part of a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System. Finally, developing a Graphic User Interface (GUI) to display the database acquired and predicted solar power generation result.
Mathematical formulas were used in calculation to make the prediction of the solar power generation. These formulas include standard deviation, correlation and Euclidean Distance to measure the spread of the data and to compare similarity. It was found out that the time (position of the sun), temperature and the rain were the biggest contributing factors to how much solar power the solar panel can generate. |
