description As part of the iNEMO innovation challenge, this project focuses on integrating and developing an application for the LEGO Mindstorms NXT and the iNEMO. The iNEMO, short for inertial module and produced by STMicroelectronics, contains a 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis magnetometer and a 3-axis accelerometer. This iNEMO innovation challenge is organized by STMicroelectronics, Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore collaboratively. This report details the development of a robot built by LEGO parts and controlled by the iNEMO remotely. The application makes use of the tilt information from the accelerometer and the angular turning speed of the gyroscope to produce a remote control. A user is able to move the robot and dispense domino pieces without the need to press buttons. This concept of Natural User Interface and the possible applications in motion tracking, limitations as well as development difficulties will all be discussed.
