description Production Positioning Strategy (PPS) concerns with a manufacturer's strategy to organize and execute its production and operations within its company. This research extends the concept of PPS to the whole supply chain, and thus renames it as Supply Chain Positioning Strategy (SCPS). The focus of this thesis is on the electronics industry and the proposition is to develop a framework for companies to analyze, evaluate and improve their production and supply chain positioning strategies across their whole supply chains. While extending PPS to SCPS, it is necessary to evaluate their impact on supply chain performance. For the evaluation, a mathematical model is proposed here. The proposed basic model is generic for its wider applicability. Factors such as information technology and supply chain dynamics also impact the performance of the supply chain. Therefore, the model is further extended to incorporate these factors.
