description Fuel cells such as the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell using hydrogen as the energy source are a widely used technology in new energy field. Hydrogen is normally obtained from electrolysis splitting H20 into hydrogen and oxygen. An electrolysis system is currently being used in the Water Energy Research Lab as energy storage system connected to the Solar PV panel. This project involves the conversion of energy from fuel cell to the existing high voltage DC bus. The fuel cell output voltage varies with the input hydrogen, and can be very small. Thus, a high gain converter is designed to tie the fuel cell with the DC bus. By studying the feasibility of some basic DC/DC converter, a full bridge forward converter is selected to meet the requirements. This article includes the topology and control strategy of the converter. The hardware implementation is also under construction. The Silicon Laboratories' microcontroller, C8051F120, has an 8-channel Programmable Counter Array (PCA). When confirming the PCA to work in High Speed Output mode, it is easy to realize a two-channel interleaved PWM.
