Description
Summary:This thesis is directed towards the development of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) probes, which includes their synthesis, an in-depth study on their fluorescence properties and potential applications. Both probe 37 and near infra-red (NIR) probe 39 were selective towards H2S in the presence of other biologically relevant species but these probes could not differentiate between thiols and hydrogen sulfide. In addition, probe 37 was used to determine the H2S generation rate of GYY4137, a H2S donor of great medical importance.
