Williams Nanyang Business School DRNTU::Business 81 p. This study investigates the association of managerial roles and budget-related behaviour under the context of low and high task variability. The study surveyed 288 managers in 84 organisations. The results of a canonical correlation analysis on the data gathered indicate that under low task variability, there is a significant relationship between managerial roles and budget-related behaviour whereas under the high task variability, there are two significant relationships. The results signify that the patterns of relationship between the two sets of variables are different under each task condition. The findings indicate the importance of task uncertainty in moderating the relationship between budget-related behaviour and managerial roles.
