An old saying says, ''Health and wisdom form part of a man's wealth". This is an indication of the importance of health to mankind since time immemorial. However, with the worrisome escalation of healthcare costs and the presence of new strains of health problems, we should be clear of the issues involved in preparing ourselves for the maintenance of our health. Most Singaporeans have realised by now that it is no longer wise to depend solely on Medisave, Medishield or their own savings to cover their health expenses. The proliferation of insurance companies in providing coverage for health hazards in return for premiums have been very promising and these companies have strived to cater for the diverse needs of consumers with a variety of comprehensive and innovative health products. However, the question is; are their efforts sufficient in enabling us to greet the 21st century with confidence and sound knowledge of proper health maintenance?
