Summary:The potential advantages of organic semiconductors in low cost flexible electronics have sparked immense research interest in recent years. This project aims to synthesize a novel carbazole derivative, 5-dodecyl-5H-napthol[2,3-b]carbazole-7,12-dione for use as a potential organic semiconductor and for future growth of crystals for single crystal charge transport studies. The reaction mechanisms as well as the product characterizations are described in detail.
