description | Project cargo shipping is often associated with the transport of large, oversized and heavy cargo over oceans on vessels. Such transport may be arranged by logistics companies, or by shipping companies aboard their own specialised vessels. This report seeks to understand the impact of external market and economic factors that may affect the ability of shipping companies and logistics companies to provide project cargo transportation services profitably. This research will involve the use of primary and secondary sources of qualitative information from academic databases and interviews respectively. Quantitative data in the form of financial reports and market research reports will also be used.
The scope of this report will cover the major participants of the project cargo industry, namely the logistics companies, shipping carriers, shippers and other peripheral players. Interview responses from the project cargo industry will be drawn upon to discuss how logistics and shipping companies perform a complementary role in this particular shipping segment and conclude with an outlook for the continued involvement of both types of companies in the project shipping market. |
