description 80% of Singaporeans live in HDB blocks, with almost all having a fitness corner containing an outdoor elliptical cross-trainer. With an ageing population in Singapore, healthcare becomes an increasingly challenging issue to deal with both at a professional level and an individual level. Appropriate measures have to be taken individually to constantly seek to improve one’s body condition and the HDB has done so with great effectively by building more park connectors and fitness corners. However, one might question how much exercise is required and how intense should the exercise be? Is the equipment safe and suitable for elder usage, and what is the limit when using this outdoor equipment. This report seeks to answer these questions, as well as to provide a general improvement to the design of current outdoor elliptical cross-trainers found in HDB fitness corners.
