description The trend of 3D TV and monitor is on the rise and people are leaning towards the virtual reality world. Objects to be created are put through multiple simulation tests before they are fabricated to save on production cost. Project A147 focuses on displaying SolidWorks part model and assembly model in auto-stereoscopic 3D. In this project, the author explored different ways of displaying image from SolidWorks in auto-stereoscopic manner, viewing 3D without glasses. A lenticular lens monitor and an iphone 5S with EyeFly 3D film was used as the display medium. With the combination of functions from different software like SolidWorks 2013, e-Drawing 2012 and DTI Interactive 3D Image Processing Utility software from the Lab, the author is able to produce desired outcome for the project. A video template was created to capture object in motion. This template can be the basis for creating more complicated 3D video for better visualization of CAD drawings. Further studies can be made on this template to recreate scene for optimum viewing and educational purpose on SolidWorks.
