description This report illustrates the author’s 20-week of internship experience. The author served as an intern at Singapore Airlines Limited from 13th January to 30th May 2014 as part of her Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science) course. She was attached to the Material Management Department under the Engineering Division. The department ensures that engineering materials are delivered effectively, efficiently, safely and with minimal costs to support Singapore Airlines aircraft operations. The author describes her experiences in contributing, learning and improving one of the databases during her 20-week internship. She was tasked to study the processes of the supply chain in the aerospace industry and develop solutions to simplify processes and to improve efficiency in the department. Solutions were developed using Microsoft Access. Developing Daily Spares Shortages (DSS) of Line Maintenance, Base Maintenance, Data Analysis, debugging and adding new features in Repair Management and Program Logistics database and proposing solutions on accessing databases away from office were projects that the author was involved in. The author gained plenty of experience in designing and development of database module that will be functionally used within a reputable company, Singapore Airlines Limited. The attachment as a whole has been extremely fruitful and beneficial to the author giving the opportunity for her to learn skills and knowledge that would not be taught in campus.
