description Panic attack is an excessive worry or fear even when there is no stimulus acting on a person. When a person experiences bouts of panic attacks and worries constantly when the next one will occur, this could cause their lives to be greatly affected, leading to panic disorder. Panic disorder is a growing trend in our current society, and is becoming a common disorder in Singapore, as well as worldwide. Since panic attacks cannot be predicted, it will be devastating, should a person experience panic attacks, without anyone around to help them. In recent years, there is an increase in the usage of smart phones. As such, an Android application was developed to help patients with panic disorder. For this project, we will be developing an interactive feature for this app. We will be look into Voice Stress Analysis (VSA), analyzing the speech signals of the patient using the app, as well as providing a means for help to be called for, if the patient is undergoing a series of panic attacks. During the initial stage of the project, there was a need to find out more about patients with panic attacks, and how they would sound like when they are in an episode of an attack. The second stage was to learn more about the coding for Android, as well as understanding more about VSA. Finally, we can then design the Android application (“app”) to meet the objectives of this project, which is to measure the stress level of patients using this app through VSA.
