description In this thesis, the lead acid battery is introduced to build up the modelling by Simulink MATLAB software. The electrical and thermal characteristics are important issue to the battery. By getting the dynamic battery current respect to the given time to determine the battery depth of charge (DOC) and state of charge (SOC). At the same time, we will use an circuit diagram to establish the lead-acid battery model. The lead-acid battery’s charging and discharging characteristics are estimated by running the simulated modelling and the input data is provided by battery maker’s specifications. Except that, the battery energy storage system modelling developed in Simulink as well to simulate how the battery bank work in BESS. The result shows that both SOC and temperature of battery are playing importance role on the battery life spam and energy efficiency. Lastly, based on the final result to conclude the electrical and thermal characteristics of lead acid battery, so that a battery energy storage system (BESS) was able to sized accordingly.
