description The increase in older adult population and life expectancy lead to concerns such as increase age-related problem. Older adult who are also staying alone requires constant monitoring to ensure their safety. Health care and emergency response are critical to support their life. A smart home with the suitable smart devices will enable the monitoring of the older adult. Integrating the smart home with technologies that can detect those life threatening situation and contact help in time will save the older adult life. The high penetration of smartphones these days allow the user to monitor and control the smart home from remote places using an application. This project will look into the older adult's experience of smart home application. The application will consider the limitation of the older adults in various aspect such as physical and cognitive. A set of guidelines will be defined to address those limitations. After which, a prototype user interface design is drawn against the guideline and an application is developed using the prototype design.
