Coaches’ knowledge has been highlighted by Cote & Gilbert to consist of professional knowledge, interpersonal knowledge and intrapersonal knowledge. These knowledge can be acquired through formal, non-formal and informal sources (Mallet et. al, 2009). However, given the popularity and accessibility of the Internet, coaches are now offered new ways to acquire the knowledge they seek and little research has been done to explore this possible new learning source. As such, the purpose of this study was to investigate how the Internet has been used and how it can be utilized to improve coaches’ knowledge. Qualitative interviews were conducted with 10 participants (9 males and 1 female) who all had a minimum of 8 years of coaching experience as well as a minimum of an AFC ‘B’ License coaching qualification. Analysis of the data revealed that (a) using the Internet is an important part of their preparation processes in acquiring coaching knowledge. (b) The Internet was favored as a learning source due to its accessibility, convenience and low cost. (c) Only two coaches have used the Internet to gain more intra and inter personal knowledge, while the majority have only look to improve their professional knowledge. The findings of this study also show that because of the autonomy users can have on the Internet, discernment skills are necessary to determine credibility of the information.
