description This study seeks to identify the various factors that influence an individual's decision in accepting foreign posting or overseas assignments. Two thousand questionnaires were sent out. Half of the questionnaires were distributed to the final year undergraduates of NTU and the other half to the graduates of her Alumni. We also obtained information from books, newspaper clippings and journals via the CD-ROM ABI System of the NTU library. The conclusions of this study are based on a sample size of 476 individuals who had responded to the survey. The findings of the study suggest three significant determinants of the overseas assignment decision, namely, career path, children education and remuneration. These factors that hold the individuals back from going work overseas are looked at in greater detail. From the analysis of the findings, our project group then makes some recommendations to the companies in preparing and rewarding their staff for such overseas assignments. Our group also feels that the government sectors can play a part in assisting companies to promote their regionalisation task. Hence, we also provide some suggestions in this study where the government sectors may be of great help to the companies that are planning to go regional.
