description Carbon Fibre Reinforcement Polymer (CFRP) has been widely used in recent years due to the advantages it brings. In Aviation Industry, CFRP has been increasingly used due to the high strength to weight ratio and the rigidity of the material. However, the uses of CFRP at different temperatures have posed challenges to engineer due to the change in mechanical properties. The objective of this project is to investigate the effect of temperature on the mechanical properties of CFRP in 3-point bending, where the polymer matrix in the specimen is epoxy. Specimen used in this project is quasi-isotropic as it is highly beneficial in mechanical isotropy. The experiment was done base on ASTM D790 standards, and the flexural strength, strain and Flexural modulus were being studied and compared. The difference in temperature of the specimen greatly affects the mechanical properties. It was found out that the properties of the material degrade after the Glass Transition Temperature due to the increase rubber-like thermoset polymer matrix. 3-point bending was done to examine the failure mode of the specimen at different point phase of load stress drop. An optical microscope is being used to examine the failure in each layer due to transverse crack or delamination.
