Summary:3D printing is a type of additive manufacturing that due to its versatility with the types of printable material and its ability to do rapid prototyping with little waste, is becoming increasingly popular with industry such as aerospace. Yet there is still much to improve on the methods to detect flaws within a 3D printed product. Non-destructive methods are usually favoured for its ability to measure properties without altering the part’s mechanical properties. In this project we focus on analysing the effectiveness of using laser interferometry to detect porosities in a 3D printed sample.
