description This report is the author’s final year project report, presenting the research about demand response management system in smart grids. The aim of this project is to develop demand response (DR) software that encourages different types of consumers to change their energy consumption pattern during peak periods in return for monetary rewards. Firstly, different types of DR available in the market were studied. The next step is developing DR programs by using LabVIEW software. There are a total of 4 different types of programs implemented in the DR software of this project–direct load control (DLC) service, interruptible/curtailable (I/C) service, demand bidding/buyback program and emergency demand response/time-of-use (EDRP/TOU) Program. The software provides amount of rewarded incentives for different types of consumers; they are commercial, industrial and residential consumers. The software awards monetary incentives to different type of consumers, namely consumers from commercial, industrial and residential sectors. Consumers who need to participate in DR programs are allowed to choose one out of four available DR programs. All the stimulated values and formulae used in this project are based on the research and studies from the different scholarly articles and energy market of Singapore.
