Description
Summary:This report serves as a documentation of the author’s work on the crawler crane design and simulation project, during my final year of study at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). This report can divided into two parts, the first part is respect to model and simulate the crawler crane using the SolidWorks and the second part is doing research and development of an intelligent system which can automatically generate the data for different sizes of the hooks, it will help the user to create a new hook in a faster and efficiency way. The author worked as a member of crawler crane design team. This design team was contributing to the design and develops crawler crane system. Being part of this design team for the term of my final year project, my role and responsibility is to study and understand the working principle of crane system. Then try to use my skills and knowledge to do some development works. In this report author’s design and simulate the crawler crane by using SolidWorks software and also details the designing and development of an intelligent system for the hook by using the SolidWorks and combined with the visual basic programming (it is the Application Programming Interface). On the other hand, in order to ensure the hook performance, functionality and specification to meet the design criteria, author did some design analysis such as design and analysis of crane hook with different materials and also structural analysis of crane hook by using finite element method.
