This essay will focus on the analysis of her novel series "Tales from the Dark", and how the theme of ghost writing could provide a means to comprehend the changing self identity of the Hong Kong society after the 1997 handover back to China. Ghostly figures which appeared in everyday spaces provides an insight on readings of the city's culture. This essay will focus on the concept of space, gender and narrative techniques employed to understand the link between city culture and ghostly figures, while also Li Bihua's attempt to employed a new means of narrative writings in these novel series.
