Description
Summary:The uncertain state of tension between dreams and reality is an area explored by many philosophers, from Schopenhauer to Plato. This tension is best explicated by Rene Descartes’ dream argument, which posits that our physical senses are not to be trusted as we may be in a perpetual state of dreaming. Descartes advocates for a rigorous testing of our senses to determine our state of reality, necessitating the importance of examining the symbols and images in our dreams to distinguish the various states of our consciousness. This project attempts to delineate the states of dreams and reality through a series of curated images and symbols associated with the dream world. It is an attempt to visually realise Descartes’ dream argument by explicating the elements of our dreams and how they blend in with our reality.
