Description
Summary:The Fe(III)-modified chitosan microspheres (ICS) were prepared for Pb removal from aqueous solution. The effects of initial concentration, contact time, beads dosage, pH and temperature for Pb adsorption were investigated. The maximum adsorption capacity is found at pH 5 during the pH studies, and the adsorption process followed a pseudo-second-order kinetics, suggesting that chemisorption is the main mechanism. A better correlation to the Freundlich equation indicated that there is multilayer adsorption and the beads are heterogeneous. A decrease in adsorption capacity result from an increase in temperature, which indicated that the adsorption process is exothermic in nature.
