description Singapore has limited land space and an ever increasing population. In view of that, more residential estates are being built near major roadways. Noise pollution generated from traffic is an area of concern especially with the increasing population of vehicles and the proximity of residential buildings to the roads. This research uses surveys on residents living in Residential Estate 1 near the Expressway 1 and residents living in Residential Estate 2 near Expressway 2 to gain feedback on the noise produced by the expressways. Fieldwork was conducted based on the data collected from the feedback given. From there, locations for data collecting were chosen in order to determine the actual noise level faced by residents. This paper intends to present the field measurements together with the survey feedback to create an understanding on the effectiveness of the current mitigation measures placed and whether authorities should pay greater concern about the harmful effects of noise pollution on the residents.
