Description
Summary:As three-dimensional visual reality devices such as Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR and the PlayStation VR are developed and gaining strong popularity through mediums such as virtual gaming, a similar listening environment is required from users and consumers of these devices. However, conventional headphones do not provide such experience that would replicate in a three-dimensional spatial space of listening. Thus new types of headphones are needed to be made to supply to the needs of the market where conventional headphones could not satisfy. Binaural sound and recordings are used as a basis to support 3D sound. This project aims to develop next generation 3D audio headphones that can provide such experience for the listener. By exploring on how 3D audio is being implemented into headphones, the student has designed and built prototypes for use of experimenting with subjects. Through the experiments, the prototypes would be determined whether substantial enhancements are made to the listener.
