description | Vehicle ad-hoc networks (VANETs) are designed specifically for vehicles, aiming at ensuring road safety and improving road efficiency. As highly dynamic networks, VANETs have a higher requirement of security to ensure real time communication. Traditional cryptographic methods are necessary but not enough to secure VANETs, especially when facing attackers inside the networks. Besides, how to establish communications between strangers is also challenging. To tackle these problems, trust and reputation system has been indispensable. In this thesis, we construct a trust model based on Dirichlet distribution that is robust against badmouth attackers and ensures honest vehicles are selected as platoon heads. Furthermore, we identity the potential risk of location privacy disclosure in trust and reputation system and propose a privacy-preserving method to tackle that issue in relay selection. Last but not the least, an effective privacy-preserving trust-based platoon crowdsourcing mechanism is proposed to improve the sensing reliability. |
