description Many multi-disciplinary studies have aimed towards understanding individuals’ intention when engaging in pro-environmental behaviours. This paper extends on Ajzen and Fishbein’s Theory of Planned Behaviour (1985), a social-psychological construct model explaining human behaviour. On examining the effects of social influence on individuals’ intention to engage in pro-environmental behaviours, this research will draw focus on the subjective norm construct while taking on an additional norms and social identity approach. Quantitative and qualitative methods of inquiry are employed as methods of gathering environmental experiences of Singaporean undergraduates who have been on their exchange program. Findings suggest that various attributes like reference groups, injunctive norms, and descriptive norms as well as cultural identity all play a part in influencing ones intention on engaging in pro-environmental behaviours.
