Description
Summary:Smart home systems are becoming more popular as it introduces energy efficiency, cost saving and creates convenience for many home users. Hence, with the advancement in technologies, new households may favour towards having smart home systems. The traditional use of fluorescent light tubes are starting to be replaced with Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights as LED lights are more energy efficient and cost saving. This allows more channels for engineers and programmers to innovate new technologies in the lighting systems. The objectives of this project is to analyze, design and implement a smart home lighting system, which enable users to have flexible control of their home lightings conveniently by using an android based smartphone. The smart home system in this project will introduce three main functions: 1) Controlling of brightness in bedrooms; 2) Using sensors to track human movement; and 3) Overview of lighting status at home through a mobile application. Lastly, the project aims to design and construct a prototype that models the actual smart home system and designing of an interface of a mobile application to control the lightings in a bedroom, toilet and its living room.
