Technologists and artists from the 70’s imagined a future full of green phosphor screens and convoluted designs, which turned out to be only a mirage of that society’s collective technological ideals. In the 21st century, big digital data takes center stage as the ideal technological front as analog waveforms; the “pixels” of the material world recedes to the backdrop.
Analog Future couples the artist’s fascination with waveforms and speculative futuristic aesthetics from the past to create a series of media sculpture and objects. Tube technology was curated for this project due to them being the precursors to the modern day miniaturized and solid-state technology. These functional objects are as intriguing as they are impractical when incorporated into our modern society, which goes on to exemplify why technological speculations can often be moot. |
