description | Dementia is an illness that declines the mental abilities of the dementia patient. This also led to many problems such as, declining memory, deterioration of intellectual behaviour and personality changes. This illness usually affects the elderly and statistics have shown that the numbers of dementia cases are increasing throughout the years. Family members and caretakers who are taking care of the patient are unable to be around them the whole time and this is when technologies come in handy. Certain technologies are made to assist the dementia patient in their daily life and also help to monitor their health conditions.
In this project, technology to assist the dementia patient and the caregivers will be introduced. GPS tracker will be implemented using the Global Positioning Systems (GPS) function to monitor the movement of the dementia patient. GPS shield will capture the necessary data such as the coordinates and the information will be stored into the SD card that allows us to retrieve it can plot into Google Earth. |
