description This Final Year Project report presents the implementation of The Language Centre (TLC) as a Learning Management System for Mandarin Chinese Language. It begins with an overview of the project and its purpose. It then provides background on the previous projects on learning environment, Moodle Learning Management System and Mandarin Chinese. Online resources to learn language and specifically Mandarin are also reviewed. This report will also cover the design of TLC site and how TLC users can be managed according to their roles. It then presents on the different teaching tools and e-learning features that are used to implement and facilitate online learning. Investigation on text-to-speech and speech-to-text functions are also conducted, followed by their implementation as e-learning features on TLC to learn language. Finally, this report will discuss the challenges faced and future opportunities for the development of an integrated learning system for all languages.
