总结:This research concerns the development of tourism resources in city, especially historic resources, using the model proposed by Ashworth and Tunbridge (1990) and applied to the case of Singapore. While this process creates additional tourist attractions in cities, it is often accompanied by tension between various staking parties in the tourism and urban arena. An understanding of this process will alert practitioners to possible contentious issues and hopefully maximise the opportunities and avert the problems associated with this phenomenon. Singapore has evolved to an extent as predicted by the model. The variations of its experience from the model highlight the possible socio-cultural differences as well as historical context of a Southeast Asian city at work, when compared against a model based predominantly on European cities.
