Summary:The report presents the final year project to design and develop a stereoscopic 3D first-person-view remote driven robotic vehicle system that can be controlled and accessed through real-time communication. The robotics system involves a number of technologies such as wireless communication, live stream applications, robot control and Gamepad API. A Raspberry Pi board is used as the communication gateway between the robotic vehicle, Android phone, and personal computer. An Android application on the android phone is developed to display the videos streamed from the two on-vehicle cameras. By attaching the mobile phone into a VR headset, it enables the person to have a stereoscopic first-person view from the vehicle perspective, as well as enabling the head movement to be used to control the direction of the on-vehicle cameras. Gaming steering wheel and pedals are also integrated into the system to further enhance the immersive experience for the user when driving the robotics vehicle.
