description This report focuses on developing the Home Energy Management System. The system was firstly tested with Smart Home Controller and Smart Home Device with web application (EmonPi, EmonCMS), the power consumption plot for the household can be analyzed and viewed. For applying the HEMS to a full house range, a LabVIEW GUI is developed. With the help of EmonCMS, the real-time data log for power consumption can be download as .csv file. The simulated .csv file will be input into LabVIEW GUI for analyzing and plotting. HEMS LabVIEW also optimizes the energy uses with Demand Side Management which helps to cut down energy consumption, cost and protect environment with less carbon emission. It also benefits the supplier side, with the consumers’ load pattern changed, the resource can be applied for better utilization. The HEMS is designed with different tariff rate with peak/normal/off-peak hour. The LabVIEW HEMS GUI is developed for 5 modes, in which the consumers will be able to monitor, control, calculate, and optimize the energy. Additionally, the solar panel and battery system is also development for HEMS.
