description Nano fabrication techniques have many applications important to our daily life, ranging from production of Blue-Ray discs to manufacture of CPU chips. Currently, these techniques are focusing on nano patterning of either polymer (Blue-Ray) or Silicon (CPU). Very little study has been carried out on metallic materials. However, metal nano patterning has many attractive applications, such as anti-counterfeit hologram features on aluminum foils for pharmaceuticals push-through-packages. Deformation-based surface texturing technique has shown to benefit many different applications. Besides being low-cost, the setup for the system is also easy. In this project, we will look into developing deformation-based submicron surface texturing techniques on metallic substrates in collaboration with SIMTech, A*STAR.
