description Over the centuries, our reliance on fossil fuels for energy has grown significantly. Fossil fuel is a non-renewable source of energy which will eventually run out. Besides that, the use of fossil fuels brings about adverse effects to the environment, directly and indirectly impacting our daily lives. Thus, there is a need to seek for cleaner and sustainable sources of energy. In recent years, the use of solar energy has become a popular alternative, especially in Singapore. As Singapore has no natural resources, it is vital for us to take up options that ensure self-sustainability. Also, given the geographical advantage whereby Singapore generally experiences hot weather throughout the year, it facilitates the use of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to generate electricity for domestic use. Despite the numerous installations of the solar PV systems, the unwanted heat accumulated in the solar panels is often left unaddressed. This final year project aims to tackle the unwanted heat in the system, with the use of thermoelectric effect, allowing it to be converted to useful electrical energy which will be discussed in the report.
