description The project title was finalised as “prototyping of Shape Memory Polymers for mechanical Movements” with a detailed brief of “Through the use of 3D printers, the student will create specific templates for moulding of Shape Memory Polymers (SMPS) for use in mechanical actuation with a specific interest in hinge design and load displacement”. The project analysed current technology available through a literature review, demonstrated how the SMP was produced, designed and analysed. Additionally, a full assembly was designed to accommodate the SMP hinge within the Velox II Cube satellite which was previously launched by the Satellite Research Centre (SaRC) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
