中徘徊，引发读者对“围城”的省思，从而对自己所处的现实世界以及自我追寻的反省。
张爱玲的《倾城之恋》，作为一部探讨人性挣扎求存的作品，在苍凉底色的映衬
下，通过白流苏将自己视为赌注，以获取范柳原的爱情。最终故事以香港的“倾城”而成
全了俩人，成为夫妻。
《围城》和《倾城之恋》在提及“城”的意象上，都有不同的诠释。此外，《围
城》和《倾城之恋》男女主角们的情感纠葛上，也引发读者在爱情观上的现实思考。笔者
将以“文图学”和“文本细读”的方式切入，从所建构的想象中的“城”研究其意象，分
析故事主角们在爱情围城里的挣扎。
“Fortress Besieged”, is a Chinese satirical novel written by Qian Zhongshu in his unique
literary and writing style. The storyline mainly stems from the love story of Fang Hongjian,
revealing one on pursuing the nihilism of both spiritual and material in a lateral way. Throughout
his journey on pursuing and feeling depressed at the same time, readers are able to reflect and
introspect about their own believes and pursues.
While Eileen Chang’s “Love from a Fallen City”, The novel is to encapsulate the
exploration of humanity and its struggles, written in a melancholy tone. To make Fan Liuyuan
fall in love with her, Bai Liusu see herself as a bet. As a result, the fallen of Hong Kong had
finally fulfilled the wish of Bai Liusu to marry Fan Liuyuan.
The imagery in both novels primarily relates to “城”(Fort/City), interpreting from two
distinct perspectives. The romance between the leading characters in both novels would
encourage readers to reflect on their outlook on love. The research paper aims to analyse the
concept/definition of “城”(Fort/City) portrayed in both novels and the plight of the leading
characters in pursuing the truth in love, from the perspective of “Text and Image Studies” and
“Close-reading”.
