Description
Summary:This paper illustrates the design process of a wearable bioelectronic device that is capable of heart rate measurement and fall detection. Cardiovascular diseases, specifically ischaemic heart disease or coronary heart disease, is one of the leading causes of death in the world. In Singapore, it is the third most common cause of death. In the event of a heart attack, it is of utmost essence that the victim receives help within minutes, before the chances of survival decreases rapidly. Therefore, the primary objective of this final year project is to design and develop a wearable bioelectronic device that includes a pulse sensor for heart rate measurement by using pulse oximetry to obtain a photoplethysmogram. In addition, the device includes fall detection capabilities with the use of an accelerometer.
