Through various policies makeshift, familiar grounds are slowly forgotten, abandoned and demolished in the name of progress and national development. Demolition of historical landmarks and cultural sites has become a part and parcel of Singaporean life. However, there are still debates concerning about the ownership of our memories, history, heritage and national identity. This paper aims to study the efforts of Drama Box’s Site-Specific performance from 2007-2018 in forging collective and personal memories of Singaporeans. Through a series of thought provoking process connecting the historical past and sites with its performance in the present. The further exploration in search of our Nation’s real historical events intersecting with actual pasts. Allowing participants to reminisce and reflect on our shared experience of becoming and building Singapore as a Nation. |
