description | Anatomical models are key to the understanding of complex anatomical structures and assist in the visualization of the 3D organization of human bodies. 3D printing is a versatile and time effective fabrication method to create anatomical models for education and biomedical purposes. The process of printing a detailed anatomical model that preserves arteries, nerves, muscle and other soft tissue of forearm and hand via inkjet printing is reported. The feasibility and challenges of printing this model is discussed in terms of data file processing, 3D model fabrication and operational issues. Inkjet printing technique can be utilized to manufacture highresolution life-size models suitable for handling by medical students. Future works include exploring enhancements that include multi-color and multi-material models. |
