Summary: | It had been carried out the activation, characterization of natural zeolite
from Ende in the forms of activated natural zeolite (ZAA), hydrothermal
dealumination (ZAAH) and acid dealumination (ZAAA) for cracking of
jatropha oil to biofuel. The preparation of ZAA was done by reacting natural
zeolite from Ende with NH4Cl solution. ZAA was processed by hydrothermal to
get ZAAH and by acid to get ZAAA. Physical treatments on three zeolite
samples were calcination and oxidation at temperature 500 0C for 3h. The aim of
three physical-chemical activations was to obtain the catalytic properties of
natural zeolite in the catalytic cracking of jatropha oil to biofuel.
Characterizations of three zeolit samples were carried out by FT-IR, ammonia
adsorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and surface area analyzer.
Dealumination treatments by acid and hydrothermal on natural zeolite
from Ende decrease the total acididy of zeolite. The characterizations of
activated natural zeolite from Ende yield pore size, surface area and total pore
volume respectively for ZAA: 19.017 , 92.957 m2/g, and 8.839 x10-2cc/g
