Summary: | Background: Problem of drug abuse is a national and international issues
because of the negative impact and threaten various aspects in community life,
especially the younger generation. Based on BNN and UI research in 2007,
Banten Province occupied the position of the Top five in drug abuse cases. Based
on education level, drug users whose background as much as 85% is senior high
school. Lack of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors about the danger of drug
abuse, SMU N 2 Krakatau Steel (KS) Banten students causing vulnerable to drug
abuse. Location of SMU N 2 KS is near city and places of entertainment are prone
to drug abuse. Departing from these problems, it is necessary to study knowledge,
attitudes and behavior improvement of students on preventing drug abuse by the
Small Group Discussion (SGD) method and the readiness of students and the
school in shaping the organization's drug task force in the school environment.
Objective: The aim of this study is to increase knowledge, attitudes and behavior
of SMU N 2 KS high school students about drug abuse prevention using the SGD
method and to know how prepared students and the school in forming the Anti-
Drug Task Force (ATF).
Method: This study is a quasi experimental studies with the design of pretest-post
test control group design.
Result: The results showed there is significant increase (p < 0.05) on the variables
of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of students on preventing drug abuse before
and after interventions by SGD and counseling methods. ANOVA test showed
that the mean score of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of the three groups
differed significantly (p < 0.05). The SGD mean score of knowledge was highest
which is knowledge DKK 9.3 increased to 12.8
