Summary: | The mortality rate is the number of deaths in general or by spesific causes in a
population, according to the scale size of the population per unit of time. Anesthesiarelated
mortality is a basic or primary measurement of anaesthesia quality and safety.
Reduction of mortality associated with anesthesia is part of an anaesthetic
management including optimization of preoperative anesthesia, a good anesthetic
management, and the postoperative treatment. Research on anesthesia-related
mortality was intense enough to increase the anesthetized patient safety
improvements.
The aim of this study was to determine the number of anesthesia-related
mortality at Dr Sardjito General Hospital Yogyakarta in the Year 2010 2011.
An observational retrospective cohort design was used in this study, comparing two
groups of subjects who have different variables. All anaesthesia patient data in 2010-
2011 in Dr Sardjito General Hospital taken from the medical records department of
Dr Sardjito General Hospital then the mortality rate was calculated with the criteria of
death < 24 hours post operative/anesthesia on categiry 1 where it is reasonably certain
that death or morbidity was caused by the anesthesia or other factors under the
control of the anesthetist
