Hypertension in type 2 DM is closely linked to obesity and insulin resistance.
Endothelial dysfunction and increased intravascular pressure due to hyperinsulinemia
and hyperglycemia, it is possible to directly influence the increase in arterial blood
pressure. HbA1c is a glycosylated conjugate hyperglycemia can lead to irreversible
changes through the reaction of free amino acids in proteins. Nitric Oxide is an
important role for regulation and maintenance of vascular pressure. Several previous
studies have agreed that the increase in blood glucose levels can lead to decreased
levels of Nitric Oxide in the blood, resulting in impaired vasodilatation resulting in
hypertension.
Purpose: To analyze the correlation between HbA1c with Nitric Oxide in women
with type 2 DM with hypertension.
Methods: The study used a cross-sectional design, with age of female subjects with
type 2 DM with hypertension 40 to 60 years, they control in clinic of Endocrine and
Metabolic RS. Dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta between July 2010 until December 2010 that
met inclusion and exclusion criteria. Venous blood samples were then taken for
examination and HbA1c levels of Nitric Oxide. The correlation between two variables
was analyzed with Pearson correlation test. Considered statistically significant when p
<0.05.
Results: There are 40 subjects with type 2 DM women with hypertension. Plasma
Nitric Oxide levels obtained at 0.61056 ± 0.268172 µmol / L and HbA1c levels of
7.83 ± 2.1671%. Pearson correlation analysis of the results obtained negative
correlation between Nitric Oxide levels with levels of HbA1c (r) of -0.124 and no
statistically significant with a p value = 0.444.
Conclusion: There is no correlation between plasma Nitric Oxide levels with HbA1c
levels in subjects with type-2 DM women with hypertension. |
