Summary: | This time aropmatherapy is developed and not only use as cosmetic,
but also as therapy to increase health and medication. Aromatherapy have
efficacy in therapeutic such as lavender essential oil. Some research
suggest that lavender can be used in episiotomy wound care, especially in
episiotomy wound healing and also to reduce maternal post partum
episiotomy pain. Lavender essential oil have efficacy as anti-inflammasi
and anti-bacterial therefore its can be used on wound care and help to
prevent infection. One of the episiotomy wound healing complication is
infection. Postpartum maternal infection can be reduced by preventing the
occurrence episiotomy wound infection. Episiotomy wound infection is the
most common infection acquired after delivery. While this seems simple
episiotomy wound care, but if not handled properly and correctly then the
episiotomy wound infection may have an impact on maternal
morbidity.This study to determine the effect of lavender essential oil on
maternal postpartum episiotomy wound healing.
The study design was randomized clinical trial, data was taken from
mothers who normal vaginal delivery with episiotomy. The subject are
grouped into two intervention groups, the treatment of wounds with
lavender essential oil and the control groups with povidone-iodine.
Evaluation is done on the fifth day and seven day postpartum, by
observing the conditions of episiotomy wound using REEDA scores.
Method of analisys using Stata version 11, the bivariat analisys with
Fisher-Exact test and multivariate with logistic regression. Of the 78 study
subject, 39 subjects with lavender oil and 39 subjects with povodineiodine.
On the fifth day of observation of the effect of lavender oil on
wound healing episiotomy significant p value=0.004 and RR 3.2.
Observation seventh day of lavender oil did not difference influence than
povidone-iodine p>0.05 and RR 1.1
Conclusion. Lavender Essential Oil on wound healing are faster than
povidone-iodine. There is no side effect in this research.
