Summary: | Variety, population, N fertilizer, and irrigation method has been reported as the
factors determine of rice yield level. The Institute of Rice Research Centre has developed
of three type varieties namely inbred, hybrid, and new plant type (NPT) rice.
To achieve of the yield potential, each variety require different management.
Population different as the result of planting density management (20cm x 20cm) and
(27cm x 27cm) also adjustment of dose N fertilizer application has been used as the
treatment of the experiment under continuous flooded and intermitten irrigation condition.
flooded
The design used was Split-split-plot with four replications. The result show that: (1)
Rice yields in the conditions of intermittent relatively lower but not statistically
significantly different than it always . Decline in rice production is more due to
higher weed competitive related to the number of weed species and more dense
composition of the weed in the intermittent condition. Conserved of water consumption and
water use efficiency increased from about 0.66 kg/m3 under flooded to 0.71 kg/m3
when in intermittent conditions, (2) Hybrid rice were higher than inbred rice and NPT, either on the condition of flooded or intermittent. The average productivity achieved by successive 7.20 t
ha-1 for Rokan hybrid rice, 5.39 t ha-1 for NPT promissing line of BP 360 and 6.34 t ha-1 for
inbred of Ciherang, (3) Eventhough the individual rice plants can produce better growth if
planted with widwer spacing (27 cm x 27 cm), but productivity is 16.47% lower than that
planted with closer spacing (20 cm x 20 cm), and (4) Dose of fertilizer N application did
not significantly affect the production, either on continous flooded or intermittent
conditions. A high portion of fertilizer N was applied as a basal fertilizer (60-45-30) or
otherwise at the last split of fertilization (30-45-60) kg N ha-1 application-1 it does not affect
the growth and yield components.
